It won't be long before the last lot of Humax Foxsat stock end up on ebay

Ive got one on back order with Maplins, I rang them yesterday morning to see if I was to get one from their Friday delivery I was told they only had 30 delivered in that order and were expecting 300 more on the 21st Jan and I am number 230 on the list ! my back order has been in for 2 weeks so 1 week to go then buy buy Sky.

I don't get this. How can someone have their order cancelled with Comet and then Comet website says in Humax Foxsat HDR is stock again?

The stock is postcode dependent, which means the stock may only be in one area of the UK and not in the area they are in.

At this rate the Philips Freesat PVR will be available in this country and the competition will bring the Humax price down as well..

There was a time when a contract was legally formed at the moment the supplier took your credit card number. No option for the supplier to cancel because he just changed his mind after that point.

The law was amended "to take account of internet shopping" (not sure I can see why that should be any different !).

Nevertheless, it remains very bad form to treat customers like this. Shame, I always thought that Comet were a million miles ahead of Currys/Dixons in customer service.

Just to add to the debate, I ordered from Maplins on Friday after receiving your alert, received email confirmation of the order within 30 mins and 2 hours later confirmation of dispatch. The unit has been delivered via DHL this morning and I'm looking forward to setting it up this evening after work. Goodbye Sky.....Many Thanks

Maplin told me "they have to get a balance between fulfilling back orders and new orders"... Rubbish.

Maplins did it to me also, I went on backorder and very next day they were up for general grabs- when I rang they just said I would have to wait for new stock -Humax must be aware of demand and in these times when they would be wanting money you would have thought they would be shipping enough out to meet demand!
