Dave at the "Satellite Superstore" claims he has some in stock (see http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/free.htm).

But like Currys & Dixons he is selling above the RRP. In this case £324.95 (but that does include carriage).

I won't pay the premium, maybe some will. Come to that I won't buy in Curry's or Dixons even at the RRP, too many bad experiences !

Dave at the "Satellite Superstore". Have you seen the website. Doubt you would get anything for your money!

In a couple of weeks the mainstream stores will have restocked so unless you're prepared to pay £33 for two weeks extra usage, I'd wait. Superfi.co.uk are taking preorders at £292 including p&p.

Yes, the Satellite Superstore website is a bit of a mess (but there's useful info hidden in there too, even if it's repeated 99 times !).

I've used him a few times, very happy with goods and service. But it would leave a nasty taste in my mouth to pay over the odds for the Foxsat HDR.

More dirty tricks:

Comet at last increased the warranty to two years to match most others. Which leaves the 3 year cover (from date of purchase NOT from date of expiry of warranty) truly outrageous at £54.99.

Argos still show a warranty of only one year. Which I suppose makes their extended warranty better value that Comet :-/

Superfi have been taking "preorders" since last October. I see no evidence on any of the forums that they have shipped any yet !

I guess being forced to wait will get different people in different ways.

Some will not place an order until they know their chosen retailer can supply.

Others will want to place an order and feel secure that at least they joined the queue.

Me, I'm happy to wait. Fortunately I have a very serviceable satellite PVR already. But I am still itching to get my hands on the Humax !

If you can wait, then I would do that. I read on some other sites that Grundig are launching a Freesat HDR soon - knowing Grundig it'll be cheap but cheerful. Philips stated in December that they were in the process of converting their PVR that's been available in Oz and other places for a while so that it works in UK. Also saw some USB equipped freesat boxes that allow recording on an external HD. Now wouldn't that be great with wifi back to a Media Server!!! Where's Clive Sinclair when you need him ;-)

At 9:25 AM this morning Dixons website reported having stock of the Humax Freesat PVR so emails were sent out as a result. At this moment in time it is unclear whether they actually had any stock or not, even though their site said they did. Until yesterday Dixons had removed the Humax Foxsat HDR from their catalog and have only just put in back online today... Maybe a sign of things to come?

We will continue to monitor the situation closely for you.
