Despite what their website and call centre say, Currys seem to have dozens in stock, at least in the south and London! @ 299.99

I popped in to the Canary Wharf Currys.Digital and after some discussion they realised they can search for stock across all stores, grouped by regional distribution hub (they have about 10 or so). They even let me browse through the hubs myself - two appear to cover London.

They had 5 at New Cross Gate, I rang to reserve/confirm and was again told they had none but I pushed and the guy called through to the actual store and indeed reserved one. They also have a sat finder for about 9 quid which includes a tiny F-connector jump lead (ideal if you have a single LNB!)

Picked it up last night, got home, plugged it in (with old Sky dish) and it ALL worked out of the box perfectly. What a brilliant product!

Warning: Itching to get your hands on one may develop in to a bad case of itching to be home playing with it!

Can confirm that Currys seem to have good stock but are keeping quiet about it! In Manchester 5 showing in White City (well 4 since I've been in) and 5 at Cheetham Hill.

I've been swapping emails with a nice lady in Customer Service at Humax. She says that a shipment big enough to fulfil all back orders and demand for the next 3 months is enroute to the UK and should hit the retailers by middle next week.. Fingers crossed.

I've made loads of calls, and John Lewis is expecting them in on 9/1/9 at £292 inc delivery. Extra warranty is expensive though. Maplins is definitely the best bet for price though, if you sign up to their newsletter, you get a voucher for £25.00 off if you spend over £300.00. Just add a battery to your purchase, and do it. Delivery is free. They are expecing stock on 16/1/09 and 23/1/09. The saving is worth the wait, especially if you've been waiting since November anyway!!
