Cancelled my preorder with Superfi and placed with Maplin using the voucher
code. Bought some much needed blank DVDs to push the order above £300 and
got £25 off. Hopefully they will continue to restock and I should be with
PVR this time next week!

Apologies for a Maplin false alert today. Unfortunately there was a
software error that sent out a false stock alert. We now believe we have
fixed this. Sorry to cause you any inconvenience and we hope we can
continue to provide service

I just want to say “Thank you!” for your emails. As a result I have
contacted Maplin who now say that their delivery will not be available for
sale until the 16th January. However, I have pre-booked one of the sets
that they are expecting. Without your assistance I would have been unaware
of this opportunity

Congratulations to those of you who have pre-ordered the Humax Freesat PVR

Days.

Lets hope that those who already ordered get units from the first delivery,
"within 14 days".
What has stopped me from ordering from Maplin is that their website does
not quote a warranty period. When there is some difference in what others
are quoting (1 year Argos, 2 years everyone else) this surely needs
spelling out.
I sent an email to Maplin about this two days ago, but they didn't reply
yet. I guess they are not bothered whilst folks are piling in to buy stock
they don't have.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Humax manufacturer's warranty is 2 years
anyway.

The only place on the Humax website(s) (or brochures) that I can find the
warranty quoted as two years is at "Humax direct", i.e. "if you buy it from
us it's two years".
I agree, it's looking like two years is standard wherever you buy it, maybe
someone who has bought one can confirm whether there is a card included
inside the box that makes this clear.
It could be that Argos are not too bright, or trying too hard to sell the
extended warranty. Actually the latter seems quite likely, they are trying
desperately to get people to spend £9.78 on a 1m HDMI cable when (I think)
that Humax include one in the box).

Just off the phone from John Lewis Direct.... they are expecting deliveries
on the 15th and 19th January. Got the same reply from my local store.

My understanding regarding warranty periods is that some retailers may
choose to give 12 months warranty even though the manufacturer quotes 2
years as in this case. This means that during the first year the retailer
will deal with issues under the warranty but after that period they wash
their hands of responsibilty and refer you to the manufacturer. Probably
not an issue for internet buyers, but may be a problem for those buying
locally expecting to just pop it back to their retailer for repairs within
the 2 year period.

Curry's Festival Park (Stoke) received 4 units at today - I purchased one.
