Hey hey - I say nuts to maplin!! I just got the alert for Comet and ordered one immediately. It's being delivered on Tuesday. Hmmm I feel a phone call to maplin coming on ;)

I have now cancelled my order with maplin and I would encourage anybody else to do it as it was so quick and easy.
Have now got an order with Comet and being delivered on Tuesday!

MAPLIN: What a total dissapointment. Yesterday, 5 minutes after the stock alert I'm advised my back order of 7th January will be done, being 71st in the queue, with a delivery of 300 in, and today, I'm told that 250 are coming in on 21st and a further 300 on 23rd, and they have about 400 back orders so it will be done!!

Couldn't give any more info as they are short staffed and the managers aren't in.

Richer Sounds have some in stock too, with a refundable extra guarantee (total five years) in case anyone is interested. Might just get that, and not bother about the £25 saving with Maplin. For £329.90 it is guaranteed for a full five years. If you don't use the guarantee you get £29.99 back.

Sorry, none in at Richer Sounds. They are in the same situation. Going for Comet... Watch this space.

WARNING: DON'T cancel your Maplin order without securing a new unit first. Comet says in stock and lets you add it to your basket but it is post code dependant and there is none available in my area. Sticking with Maplin

Just spoke to Maplin (I pre-ordered on 7/1/2009 and was quoted delivery within ~14 days).

They deny they've been putting stock on shelves, or sending deliveries out of order. Evidently they had 20 in stock, but are getting 1000 units (!) between 21st and 23rd so confirmed by delivery will be sent out by 23rd at the latest.

Also, just phoned Comet. They said that reports they've got stock are not true - and they aren't getting any until the end of Jan!

How come loads of people have spoken to Maplin and all got different answers?

300 boxes, 1000 boxes, 450 boxes. Someones telling porkies!

As per other's recent posts; let down again by both Maplin and Comet. They also seem to give different stories to different people.

Maplins showed in stock both before and after I ordered, but then emailed ;out of stock, on back order'. On the phone they told me they only received ten. They should have carried on offering pre-orders only!

Ordered from Comet,again the standard email of none being available in the area. So what; I'm sure they only post out from a central depot anyway?!

And now comet sent another email; simply 'out of stock' and they have cancelled my order.
